A used table has already come apart once
Somewhere along the way someone took this table down and loaded it onto a truck, and every step of that shows up later. The old seams were sealed once and have since been broken. The cloth may be worn thin where players lean, and bumpers that were lively ten years ago can have gone hard. None of it is obvious in a classified ad photo, and most of it only matters once the table is standing in your room.
There is one thing the shop does not do: Steve does not buy used tables. Because of where the market value of used tables sits, Steve's Pool Tables Plus in Newburgh passes on them. What he does is take the table you found, or the one that came with the house, and make it play properly.
